The company have accelerated the expansion of their broadband networks in the Canaries, with special emphasis on coastal towns to cover many of the tourist destinations. For the island of Lanzarote, all seven municipalities are confirmed as having 4G coverage including Arrecife, San Bartolomé, Teguise, Tias, Yaiza, Tinajo & Haria.

The beaches in Lanzarote with 4G cover include: Playa del Reducto, El Cable, La Concha, Playa las Cucharas, Los Charcos, Playa Bastián, Puerto del Carmen-Playa Grande, Los Pocillos, Matagorda, Fariones, Playa Blanca, Montaña Roja, Papagayo, Las Coloradas, Puerto Calero, Playa Quemada, Playa Honda & Guacimeta.

Pascual Carrascal, regional director of Vodafone in the Canaries, explained to Pauline Rivero, President of the Canarian Government that “the investment in Spring was part of the programme announced by Grupo Vodafone in autumn last year, to deploy the next generation of networks and improve customer experience”.

Vodafone will continue to strengthen the coverage in existing areas during July & August as well as adding 8 other municipalities in the Canaries.

Fourth generation technology (4G) offers speeds of 150-200Mbps download and 50-100Mbps upload for internet data, enabling users to share and download content such as photos, music, video and games.
